My Story
I have played percussion for 60 years. As a former drummer, I have played many genres of music from rock to blues to jazz. I spent my formative years in Canada where music is compulsory within schools and I played a number of instruments. But my heart was always with percussive instruments.
In my mid 30’s I had a serious cancer and my music really helped get me through that. That illness really changed me as a person for the better and when I perform now with sound baths or teaching/mentoring, I feel I am giving something back to those around me, which warms my heart.
Canada left a big imprint on my life and the older I get, the more spiritual I become and the stronger the need comes to help others. Canada is a vast wilderness with such a multicultural society. As a child I felt deep sadness for the native Indians whose wilderness was swept away from them and that had a profound effect on me as a person.
Some people come to sound baths to simply relax, but others come with a whole array of health issues whether it be physical or mental health issues. It’s warming to me when people express what a benefit it has been to them. That’s what makes it very special to me.
I play from my heart with my instruments, which gives me such a connection to those present.
